1. What did you do this past week?

This past week started off slower and more relaxed than my previous few weeks, which I was grateful for. I started on my assignments for SWE, and I also ended up spending the bulk of my time on Friday and Saturday on my OOP project to get a head start. I also caught up on sleep and spent time with my friends.

2. What’s in your way?

Right now there is not too much in my way. The main concerns I have going into next week are gaining a better understanding of my assignments and making as much progress as possible. Starting an assignment can be the most challenging part of the process, so I’m hoping that I can get a good start this week. I also want to start exercising more regularly, and I feel like I was able to accomplish that this past week. However, I want to develop a better habit of eating healthy and working out, and I don’t want to slack off as time goes on.

3. What will you do next week?

This upcoming week I will shift gears and more aggressively tackle my Computer Science assignments. I plan on meeting with my teammates and distributing the work so that we can accomplish as much as possible. An important point to keep in mind is that we also need to fix issues from the previous phases and implement changes based on the graders’ issues and comments.

4. What did you think of the talk by Dr. Rich and Dr. Cline?

The two lectures this past week by Dr. Rich and Dr. Cline were very interesting. Their talks were on the topic of ethics, and how it relates to the field of Computer Science. They were engaging and allowed us to participate in their discussions. The most beneficial aspect of their talks was the thought exercises we were presented with. The main thing I took away from their discussion on ethics was the fact that we should keep ethics in the forefront of our pursuit of Computer Science and do the things we do for the right reasons. Topics like ethics are always interesting because there are not always absolute rules when it comes to determining what is good or what is right. However, I was disappointed that they did not talk about the absolutes of moral law and how we must have a foundation of truth in our lives to guide the decisions we make.

5. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is to use a tool like Selenium to scrape pictures for your website.
